We welcome law students from 2nd year onwards (both 3-year and 5-year LL.B programmes), recent law graduates, and young legal professionals. A genuine commitment to public interest law and social justice is essential. Prior legal aid experience is appreciated but not mandatory.
We offer flexible duration to accommodate your academic schedule:
Short-term: 4–6 weeks (ideal for semester breaks) · Medium-term: 2–3 months · Long-term: 6 months or more (for final year students or gap year). Part-time internships during academic semesters are also available with reduced hours.
Our process is simple and transparent: submit your application via our Google Form, including your CV and a brief statement of purpose. Our team reviews applications on a rolling basis and shortlisted candidates are invited for a casual interview (in-person or virtual). Selected candidates receive an offer within 2 weeks.
We look for enthusiasm, commitment to social causes and willingness to learn — not just academic grades.
We follow a hybrid model. Interns are required to attend our Pune office a minimum of 3 days/week for hands-on learning, team collaboration and court visits. Volunteers have more flexibility — many roles can be completed remotely with occasional in-person meetings. Field visits are required for some community outreach activities.

Yes — final year students are especially encouraged to apply. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience before entering the profession, work on dissertation or research projects with our support, and explore career paths in public interest law and legal aid. Many of our interns have gone on to careers in human rights and social justice.
Yes. Upon successful completion you will receive an official certificate from Midhati Legal Aid Foundation, a detailed letter describing your roles and skills developed, a letter of recommendation (for outstanding contributors), and a digital badge for your LinkedIn profile. These documents are valuable for your CV, law school requirements and future job applications.
We invest in your professional development through weekly training sessions on research, drafting and advocacy; court visit observations; client counselling practice under supervision; workshops on consumer law, family law and property law; mentorship from experienced advocates; peer learning; and regular feedback sessions to track your progress.
Full-time interns: 5–6 days/week, 6–8 hours/day. Part-time interns: 3 days/week, 4–6 hours/day. Volunteers: as per your availability (minimum 4 hours/week recommended). What matters most is your dedication and commitment to the communities we serve — we work with you to balance responsibilities.
No prior experience is required. We welcome students at all stages of their legal education. We look for passion for social justice, willingness to learn, empathy towards marginalised communities, good communication skills and a collaborative spirit. Your enthusiasm and commitment matter more than your résumé.
